Bass-baritone Cory McGee opens his 2023/24 season performing the title role in Mozart’s Don Giovanni (Wolf Trap Opera) and making his debut with Opera Philadelphia as Pietro in Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra. He also portrays the role of the Father in Tesori’s Blue (New Orleans Opera) with a “most powerful vocal and dramatic performance… w[inning] him an ovation” (Jack Belsom, Opera News). This season, additional roles include Theseus (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Atlanta Opera), as well as Second Knight (Parsifal, Houston Grand Opera) and the Imperial Commissioner (Madama Butterfly, Houston Grand Opera). He will also sing Colline (La bohéme, Chattanooga Symphony), Handel’s Messiah (Santa Fe Symphony), and the world premiere of Aucoin’s Music for New Bodies (DACAMERA).
